the yellow symbols disappeared after the fourth install, but i went ahead and installed them all - again, not knowing any better. not knowing any better, i downloaded all 16 and installed 15 of them.

However, i did have to deal with #3 yellow 'exlcamated' symbols - i purchased a driver finder that told me i needed a total of 16 drivers. I also had the power management turned off on the two usb root hubs i have listed. I actually had the default thru set to none (setup: prefs: midi:) Thank you for your response, very helpful.

reinstalling the software twice has had no effect.Īgain, apologies for the length of this - just wanted to make sure that i provided enough history to give a feel for the dilemma. deleting databases, dae prefs, and digi in roaming has had no effect. output reads 'minigrand.' midi volume is 96. at the top of the mix channel for that track: the casio is chosen in the midi input selector and i have 'all' channels ticked as the option. on the track itself: mini grand is chosen on insert A, no other inserts. in setup: preferences: midi: the default thru instrument is currently set to 'none' although i have 'toggled through' all of the possibilities listed in the drop down. the midi input enable window lists the casio and the fastlane ort B. the midi input filter is set to record 'all.' it is not enabled, nor are any of the four options i have in the window. in the midi beat clock window: nothing is checked. all of the 16 'recieve channels' are greyed. not using an output port, so it is 'none.' all of the 16 'send channel' buttons are blue. in setup: midi: midi studio setup: the casio is listed as the only instrument as it should be. when i play the controller, the fastlane (port A in) lights up as it should. i have found nothing, yet, hence this follow up. So, i've begun another round of googling and DUC work to remedy the midi input to PT problem i''m having. that i'm using the fastlane > computer > reaper and it works! i'm able to input midi into reaper! so does that mean win7 is working fine and that the problem really is PTle8? it makes me appreciate what i've learned in PT the last two years!Īnd then it dawned on me.

it looks hopeful, but now i'm in to learning curve issues with reaper.

because i've seen some posts and videos on rewiring reaper, i downloaded the trial (full) version the other day to see if i could get midi to PT in a simpler way than the 'separate sequencer process,' above. mid files and import the files into PT, put them on an instrument track, and manipulate to my heart's content. i can play to another sequencer (dedicated midi - no audio). My PT has always been able to play and manipulate imported midi, however, so i've decided to look at work-around solutions. but i will need midi input for recordings in the future, so i have to resolve this if i can. I have done several projects since that time and PTle8 has worked just super in every other way - it just so happens that i did not need to record midi in those projects. I'm using a lenovo v570 laptop and i'm running win7 64bit os. this thought also made me think that i should put off upgrading to PT10 until i have resolved the problem.

it's a keeper!įor no 'real' reason (paranoia re: pc's), i began to suspect that somehow my midi input problems were related to windows7 64bit, instead of PT, because of updates, installs, uninstalls, etc. and, i do like the fastlane better for all kinds of reasons for use in my studio set-up. I followed albee's advice and got a fastlane-usb midi interface and set the uno's aside. what had worked flawlessly and automatically before, just no longer worked: couldn't get midi to input: casio controller > uno sport > computer. My original issue/problem was: 'one day' i went to PTle8 and there was no midi input.

I haven't followed up since my first post over five months ago due to "real life," but i would like to update, or continue: Sorry about the length: just trying to be thorough.
